Beta Wolf was formed in 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. Grant Arnow (vocals) and Sergio Ruelas (lead guitar) had been members of Takota, a band that had toured extensively, yet idled hopelessly on the roster of a major record label. The two had grown more steadfast in their belief that rock music could be socially aware, epic in proportion, and deeply sincere, and they set off to build the band they’d wanted to be in as 11 year-old boys. Together, they scoured the greater Los Angeles area for it’s brightest and most talented players. They found guitarist/vocalist Devon Pangle – originally from El Paso, TX – spinning his creative wheels in endless recording sessions, looking for an outlet for his prolific riff-addiction. Chester Lang – drummer, originally from San Luis Obispo – was recommended by the Viper Room’s talent buyer, who was aware of his eagerness to find musicians that could push him creatively. Finally, bassist Rocko McIvor – a Las Vegas native, and veteran of the Devil’s Orchestra – grabbed hold of the band, to infuse his unique musicality and style on its sound. Together, they’ve experienced wild success in Japan, performing at the 2011 Summer Sonic Festival to a rowdy crowd of 5,000 and fielding two singles on the Japanese radio charts (with more to come).
